From the:

CLICK HERE for the Staff Report on the Water Rate Increase.
Not only will the City Council vote to approve the Water System Plan rate increases tomorrow night covering the next 6 years, more rate increases beyond that are in-store, quoting the city's Staff Report:
"In the early fall of 2009, staff will be coming forward with the proposal for the remaining rate increases that will cover the next six year planning period, as well as proposed increases to the system development charges allocated to new construction."
THIS IS CITY OF YELM PROPERTY OWNER'S LAST CHANCE TO MAKE ANY COMMENT ON THE HUGE WATER RATE INCREASES THE CITY COUNCIL WILL VOTE IN DIRECTLY AFTER THE PUBLIC HEARING!
IF THE PUBLIC DOES NOT SHOW IN-FORCE TO PROTEST THIS, THEN THEY WILL GET WHAT THEY WANT AND DESERVE, MUCH HIGHER WATER RATES!
THE PUBLIC'S SILENCE ON KEY ISSUES HERE, WHILE THE CITY COUNCIL VOTES AWAY THEIR MONEY, SPEAKS VOLUMES!
IN OTHER CITIES, THERE WOULD BE MARCHES AND PROTESTS ABOUT THESE TYPE OF ISSUES.
NOT YELM!
At some City Council meetings, a Yelm Police Officer is seen in the back of the room standing tall, as if cued to expect some kind of ruckus. When none materializes, the officer leaves prior to the end of the meeting. The only ruckus is the belligerence of some Council members towards the few, handful of citizens that have the courage to speak.
THE CITIZENRY OF THE CITY OF YELM DO NOTHING TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR GOVERNMENT, AND JUST CONTINUE TO GET KICKED IN THE STOMACH!
ONE DAY SOON, THEY WILL WAKE UP TO TRIPLE OR GREATER WATER RATE INCREASES ON THEIR MONTHLY BILL AND WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED. THEN IS TOO LATE!
"IT HAS TO BE SAID."

Steve,
The same thing happened when Yelm forced sewers on Residents to enable commercial construction. Business was subsidized by local residents. They don't seem to care.
Fool me once, shame on you.....
Oh well.
Bill Owen
I agree, but it will take financing for Yelm to clean up their years of neglect of sewage and water. I received a response from State DO Health indicating their concern for wells and they are working closely with DO Ecology to insure clean drinking water for Yelm. Yelm does seem to have oversight as to how it will manage these water and sewage funds which I don't think has been there in the past. Thanks to you and many good people who have made effort for a better Yelm community. Also, I see that Thurston County must update their comprehensive plan, a blueprint for how the County will grow.
