YELM LOOP HEARING + YELM BUSINESS LEAVING

1. “WSDOT will host an open house [for the SR510 Yelm Loop Project] directly followed by an access hearing at the Yelm Middle School Commons at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2006. The access hearing will start at 6 p.m. ("An access hearing is a legal procedure to allow abutting property owners and others the opportunity to provide testimony related to property access. A Hearings Examiner will conduct this formal process. Comments will be recorded and included in the project record.") Yelm Middle School Commons is located at 402 Yelm Avenue West. The 2005 Transportation Partnership Project program allocated $33 million to fund the design and right of way for this project."
Key questions to ask at this hearing:
A. The March, 2006 report shows construction from 2013 to 2015, meaning the road will not be fully operational for 10 years (subject to funding). This schedule has been pushed back several times in the last 2 years. Is this a reasonable timetable?
B. The report shows an unfunded amount of $35 million. With continued delays on the start of this project, has the costs of acquiring land, interest on borrowing money, construction costs & fuel, plus inflation made this balance inaccurate? Are we looking at a project total closer to $100 million?

2. Millennium RV, Inc. on 93rd near Yelm Ave. West is leaving our town saying Yelm's city council and restrictions on doing business here are no longer palatable for them to operate. Stop in and wish them well as they have supported this town’s RV servicing needs for years. This writer wishes them well in their new location in Randle. City Hall, are you taking note of this business's departure, along with Amtech and others?
What do you, the area citizen think of this?
How will our town's landscape change with the new Super Wal-Mart under construction this year?

Steve,

I'm a proud Yelm-ite and I have to say I am disappointed by your actions. You seem to do anything in order to get into the news - even redirect Yelm.com to a picture of your huge head (and a very small Yelm water tower). Do you really believe you are bigger than the town?
You are doing a disservice to the Yelm community, and if nothing else will further divide the town. I'm friendly to members of the ramtha school, but you're just going to cause people to dislike the ramtha followers and create even more tension.

My advice is to play a less offencive role in our community, stop trying to divide Yelm with your blog, and please - change that image. I know your ego is big, but this is enough to be labled propaganda.

Now predicably ignore my message, don't post it on your blog, and continue being the most egotistical damaging member of the Yelm community.

Jeremy.

l. I went to hi school in Sunnyside, Wa. (50 years ago), where it was common knowledge that rural Eastern Washington controlled road funds. More recently, Slade Gorton and then Governor Locke could not get State road funds for Seattle when Boeing said they were leaving town because of bad roads. I'm not sure Yelm is in the running.
2. Are some City Council and Mayor indignant with J.Z.Knight in order to deflect Yelm resident's concern for property rights - taxes, roads, drinking water, condemnation of property, etc., from themselves. Yelm has real problems that are not being addressed. Who does Economic Development benefit in Yelm? Is it a global corporation like Dubuai who owns our nation's ports? If Yelm Community (incorporated and unincorporated) wants to protect their financial investments, aka property rights, theytneed to go to City Council meetings and study sessions.

I was mean spirted and you were not. I don't really know you and it was very unfair.

I find it interesting that you bought Yelm.com. I was actually planning on buying it, but I never knew it was for sale. I was interested in starting a web design company called Yelm Web Design, located on Yelm.com. There goes that idea ;) .

Again, I'm sorry. I had a bad day, and I looked at what I wrote and I'm ashamed of myself.
